United Airlines is closing in on a merger with US Airways, sources say, after
being spurned by Continental Airlines and Delta Air Lines. The combined carrier
would be headquartered in Chicago, United's base and home to its largest airport
hub, said a person familiar with the negotiations. |

Bombardier Aerospace’s business aircraft market forecast, released last week,
predicts that 1,320 business jets, ranging from light twinjets to corporate
airliners, will be delivered annually over the next 10 years. According to the
Canadian aircraft manufacturer, this is more than a twofold increase from the
industry average of about 620 business jets delivered annually between 1998 and

Gov. Charlie Crist and Embraer president and CEO Frederico Curado this afternoon
jointly announced that the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer is building a $51
million, 149,500-sq-ft Phenom 100/300 final assembly, painting and delivery and

THE crash landing of a British Airways Boeing 777 at Heathrow may have been
caused by abnormally cold conditions over Russia, air investigators said
yesterday. Flight BA38 was forced to make an emergency landing at Heathrow when
it lost thrust in both engines at 600ft coming in to land on January 17. |
Some
air traffic controllers say they believe American Airlines is attempting to save
fuel at the expense of safety, and risking the possibility of a runway
collision, NBC 5 reported. |
